What an awesome year it has been for UGKL. We are grateful for the journey we shared. What started as a small chapter running underground races has grown into something much bigger.
UGKL remained active throughout the year, running our own events while also supporting other organisations in setting up and delivering races. From VelociDrone simulator races to five inch, Freedom Spec, Pro Spec, and whoops, the calendar stayed full and the momentum never stopped.
One of the most meaningful developments this year was the organic growth of pilot numbers and chapters, not only in Malaysia but across the region. More pilots stepped onto the track, more organisers took the initiative to lead, and more communities began to form. UGKL has always believed that growth should be shared, and we remain committed to mentoring and supporting anyone who wants to build something sustainable in their local FPV scene.
Community and Partners
UGKL was never a one man effort. This year reinforced how strong the community becomes when we work together. We received tremendous support from partner organisations and venues who believed in what we are building.
Our partners this year included DFS, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Amanahraya, Bukit Expo, MyDrone UiTM, and especially the Malaysian Sports Aviation Federation. Their trust and collaboration enabled many of UGKL’s milestones throughout the year.
Sponsors Who Made It Possible
UGKL was incredibly fortunate to be supported by sponsors who believed in the mission of growing a healthy and inclusive FPV racing community. Their continued support helped elevate both the racing experience and the pilots themselves. All sponsored prizes are given out to Class winners as well as part of lucky draw. Categories are also created for fun races where everyone will be able to take home something at the end of each race. Depending on event, some merchandize are given away as door gifts upon registration.
Racing Highlights and Milestones
One of the highlights of the year was the successful delivery of a Global Qualifier featuring eighty one pilots over two days, welcoming racers from nine different countries. The event was intense yet full of positive energy, and true to the UGKL spirit, every pilot walked away with something.
Across the year, a total of 118 pilots flew with Underground.KL FPV Drone Racing, completing more than 14,000 laps captured through the Cloudlink platform. The season also saw the rise of new elite pilots while maintaining a consistently high competitive standard at the top

Innovation in Race Formats
Beyond the Rookie Cup, which created a safe and encouraging entry point for new pilots, UGKL also introduced the Daytona race format. Inspired by MultiGP IO, this simple round-and-round format proved fast, spectator friendly, and surprisingly addictive, offering a fresh experience for both pilots and spectators.
International Exposure
UGKL pilots also travelled overseas to compete and gain experience in countries such as Türkiye, Korea, and Singapore, as well as at MultiGP IO. These international opportunities continue to raise the level of our pilots and strengthen the local community through shared experience and exposure.
Race Directors Pilot Highlight
The heroes at UGKL who put in a lot of effort to grind and make it work. The following are our pilots who showed the most potential and heart through out the year. These are the Barracudas elite for the year:

AMKFPV
“AMK, the peoples champion, Malaysian team captain and the undefeated Malaysian TQ”

ISYA
“Arisya beat some of the best international pilots during summer GQ while keeping her studies in tact for the national exam.”

TOMMMY
“Tommmy easily takes on top 4 at every race and represented Malaysia at the 10 inch race in Korea.”

AINOL
“Took podium at all categories, Sim, Pro Spec, Open Spec and whoop this year. Next year is going to be exceptionally huge for Ainol”

YZ & LX
“Grinding very hard and flying very fast. These 2 T-Hobby pilots will change the Malaysian racing scene in 2026. Also i could only fit 5, so combined these 2.”
Technology Backbone
None of this would have been possible without the backbone powering every lap, heat, and result. MultiGP RaceSync and the open source RotorHazard platform worked quietly in the background so pilots could focus entirely on flying.
Looking Ahead
To every pilot, volunteer, organiser, sponsor, and supporter, thank you for trusting the process and showing up. UGKL is not about winning alone. It is about growing together.
Here’s to an even bigger 2026.
