Maybe you’ve been getting faster all year. Maybe you’ve made brackets but never quite reached the podium. Maybe you’re still figuring out how to keep four motors attached to the quad for an entire race day.

Whatever the story — this one is for you.

We’re heading back to our usual home track at the UGKL Training Ground, Putra Heights for another proper day of backyard-style FPV racing.

No fancy paddock. No air-conditioned hall.

Just tents, folding tables, camp chairs, power banks, batteries charging everywhere and drones screaming through gates.

Welcome to UGKL.

The Rookie Cup is designed to give developing and upcoming pilots a genuine shot at the podium.

We’re keeping the eligibility rules simple.

You CANNOT enter if:

• You have podiumed in the Pro category at a UGKL race this year, or
• You podiumed at the UGKL Rookie Cup last year
• Barracuda says so

Everyone else is welcome.

You do not have to be completely new to FPV racing.

You do not have to be slow.

If you’ve been racing with us, improving every round and still haven’t broken through onto one of those podiums, this is exactly the race we want you at.

Eligibility may be checked against previous UGKL race results, and the Race Director’s decision on Rookie Cup eligibility will be final.

Pilots will take part in qualifying rounds followed by proper race brackets and finals.

The final race format may be adjusted depending on the number of registered pilots, weather, track conditions and operational requirements.

Pilot Fee

Entry Fee: RM50 per pilot

Pilot Limit: ONLY 16 PILOTS

We’re keeping this round small with only 16 race slots available.

Your slot is confirmed only after successful ticket purchase.

Once all 16 tickets are gone, registration is closed.

What You Need to Bring

This is an outdoor backyard-style FPV race event at our usual Putra Heights training ground.

Please come prepared.

Pilots are responsible for bringing their own:

• Race drones
• Goggles
• Radio transmitter
• Batteries
• Charger
• Tools and spares
• Power bank / portable power
• Chair
• Table
• Tent / shelter
• Food and drinks
• Anything else you need for a full day at the field

There is no electricity provided.

Set up your own little paddock.

Bring what you need.

Help the pilot next to you.

Charge your packs.

And race.

Analog and HDZero video systems only

Maximum VTX Power: 25mW unless otherwise instructed by Race Control

Maximum Battery: 6S

Pilots must comply with frequency management instructions throughout the event.

All pilots are responsible for ensuring their equipment is safe, compliant and race-ready before racing.

Race rules, safety briefings and Race Director instructions must be followed at all times.

Important Notes

The organiser reserves the right to adjust the schedule, race format, bracket structure or event flow due to weather, safety, venue conditions, pilot numbers or operational requirements.

Remember — this is an outdoor UGKL race.

Malaysia being Malaysia, come prepared for both sunshine and rain.

And probably both within the same hour.

Refund / Transfer Policy

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organiser.

If you are unable to attend, please contact us as early as possible and we will try to accommodate a pilot transfer where possible.

Any replacement pilot must still meet the Rookie Cup eligibility requirements.
